Former Lady Vols superstar speaks up about her illness

Apparently I’ve been been hiding under a rock somewhere because this is the first time I’ve read about former Lady Vols star being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. She was dubbed “the future of the WNBA”. And then seemingly fell off the face of the earth.

As it turns out, she didn’t disappear rather she was battling Bipolar Disorder. If only her toughest battle was covered as much as her skills on the court. She’s still working to be a game changer though. Only this time it’s to speak up about mental illness.

What a brave athlete and survivor! If she had maintained the same level of news coverage for this issue as she did for playing basketball, I believe there would be a much deeper understanding of Bipolar … especially here at home in Tennessee.
